Assignment 3, Dalia: Light and Dark
In the first image the light was direct/undiffused and placed on the extreme right of the subject and slightly above to illuminate only one side of the face and a little bit of the hair to create definition from the background.
Mood ring: somber, intense, aloof, mysterious, stormy, pensive, foreboding
Laws of light at work: light travels in a straight line.
In the second image the light was diffused and placed about 45 degrees from the camera and at a higher angle to the subject than the first. A silver textured bounce card was used at the subject's left side to fill in shadows on the side of the face opposite the light.
Mood ring: calm, relaxed, mellow, neutral, warm, subdued, peaceful
Laws of light at work: light travels in a straight line (though quality can change with diffusion) and angle of incidence = angle of reflection (usage of fill card).
